Building a repair quote
Separate labor from materials. Labor cost is the agreed hour count multiplied by the hourly rate. Add parts, fluids and supplies, then confirmed additional charges as an amount. If a price already includes tax, do not add the same tax again.
total = labor hours × hourly rate + parts + supplies + additional charges
Worked quote example
Four hours at $100 per hour give $400 labor. Parts at $600 and supplies at $50 produce a $1,050 total before extra charges. When comparing shops, confirm that both quotes cover the same operations, parts specification and warranty terms.
What this does not estimate automatically
This tool does not diagnose faults, supply model-specific labor times or estimate a repair from vehicle make. Transmission, body and engine repairs require inspection and an itemized quote. Use the calculator to check arithmetic and compare confirmed proposals.
