Oil Change Interval Calculator

Check remaining mileage, engine hours and months against the oil-change limits you supply. Use your vehicle schedule rather than a universal interval.

Your inputs

Results update as you edit. The starting numbers are an example; replace them with your own data.

A zero hour limit disables the hour check.

Use your vehicle maintenance schedule

Enter the limits applicable to your vehicle from its manual or confirmed maintenance plan. The starting values are an example, not a recommendation for your engine. Set the hour limit to zero when no hour interval applies. Each limit is checked separately.

remaining = scheduled limit − usage since last oil change

Worked remaining-interval example

With a 5,000-mile limit and 3,500 miles driven, 1,500 miles remain. A 12-month limit after eight months leaves four months. The first applicable limit reached governs the schedule. A negative number means the entered limit has been exceeded, not that extra use is available.

Operating conditions and the vehicle monitor

Severe use may have a separate schedule. If the vehicle has an oil-life monitor, follow its operating instructions. This tool does not analyze oil or automatically account for short trips, temperature, fuel dilution or load; the chosen schedule must reflect those conditions.
