EV Range Calculator

Estimate electric-vehicle range from usable battery capacity, current state of charge, reserve and measured consumption in kWh per 100 km.

Your inputs

Results update as you edit. The starting numbers are an example; replace them with your own data.

Usable energy and driving range

Only the charge above your chosen reserve is available for this estimate. Divide that battery energy by measured driving consumption. Do not use wall energy consumption if it includes charging losses, because those losses are not part of the battery energy available to drive.

range(km) = usable kWh × (charge% − reserve%) ÷ consumption(kWh/100 km)

Example with a 75 kWh battery

At 80% charge with a 10% reserve, 52.5 kWh is available. At 18 kWh per 100 km, estimated range is 291.67 km, approximately 181.23 miles. If consumption rises to 24 kWh per 100 km, the same energy provides 218.75 km.

Choosing a realistic consumption input

Use consumption measured at comparable speed, temperature and load. Heating, wind, gradient, rain and battery condition can change the outcome. Usable capacity is the energy available to the vehicle, which may differ from gross cell capacity. This tool does not simulate a route or guarantee reaching a charger.

Frequently asked questions

Is battery degradation included?

Only if you enter the current usable capacity. The tool does not infer it from vehicle age.

Why does this differ from WLTP or EPA range?

Certification cycles and your driving conditions differ. This estimate uses your entered charge, reserve and consumption.
